Bold Pinks and Yellows

Today's card majors in bright pinks and yellows. The flower, which is inked with dabs of yellow and rose ink, is from SU Petal Palette and is cut out with the coordinating die from the same bundle set. The sentiment is also from SU using the Petite Pairs set; it is punched out with a SU 1 3/4" x 7/8" oval punch. For extra interest, I added a faux jewel strip that I got from Michael's and gold rhinestones.

Heartfelt Thoughts

Do you ever lose an item in your craft room and search over and over again to find it without success?

Well, I finally found the Sizzix Tim Holtz Four Dies set I needed to find.  So today's card is made from one of the dies in that set. Along with that die, the Monarch Butterfly die from Frantic Stamper was used, and the sentiment is from Heartfelt Blooms by Stampin' Up.  Liquid pearls embellish the butterfly.

Kraft and Ivory

Today I am posting a kraft paper project; I don't usually love the color brown, but decided to go wild and use it on a card. It is embossed with a Cuttlebug Matelaise EF; the sentiment is a SU retired stamp, and it is cut out with a Sizzix Oval Stitched die. The birdies are from an unbranded die I found on Amazon. The card is finished with a simple ribbon knot.

Multi-Colored Thinking of You

I got a new set of SU dies in the mail yesterday; there have been some pretty cards on Pinterest using this die (Delicate Floral Thinlits), so it was fun to use it. The cut out is backed with a multi-colored paper which gives a lot of life to the design. The sentiment is from a set of four, but I have lost the box it came in, so I'm not sure who makes it.  (Could be Hero Arts.)  It's cut out with an EK Success punch, and the card is finished with a handmade bow.

Spring Flowers

I made a very simple design with today's card highlighting the coming of Spring, which is welcomed by many this time of year. Actually, I made two cards of basically the same design, just with two different sentiments.

The first one is for a friend who is undergoing chemotherapy. I wanted to send her a very bright, cheerful card to lift her spirits.

The EF is Darice Julie's Garden; I used the debossed side, although it was a tough choice because they are both so pretty! The sentiment is from ODBD Hyacinth group, and it was punched out with a SU retired punch. A liquid pearl was used on the butterfly

The next card used a Darice Cherry Blossom EF; I love this one because it always comes out so crisp and clean. It was another hard decision whether to use the embossed side or the debossed side, but the embossed side won out this time. Stamp is from Hampton Art and it's cut out with Sizzix Stitched Ovals dies. Liquid pearls were used on the sentiment and on the butterfly.

Dimensional Flower Birthday Card

Today's card was made by using the Cricut Flower Shoppe cartridge. After cutting the flower layers and leaves, a stylus was used to puff up the petals and make lines in the leaves. The gingham paper background has a natural puffiness to it which added some interest. The sentiment is a retired SU stamp, cut out with a SU oval stitched die; butterfly is from a Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch, and it is accented with liquid pearls.

Peace on Earth

I am getting an early start on Christmas cards again, as it is so useful to have all Christmas cards ready by December first, as that is when hubby and I send them all out to friends and family.

I used two unnamed dies that I got from Wish.com at insanely cheap prices; they are the evergreen trees and the deer. The background piece was a light orchid color and I dabbed some London Fog grey ink along the top to resemble clouds full of snow. Both clear glitter and Martha Stewart coarse glitter were used to resemble falling snow. Sentiment is from Stampin' Up Calm Christmas, and it is die cut with a Sizzix oval stitched die. Sentiment is heat embossed with gold.

Realistic Flower Card

I pulled out my Cricut machine this weekend and am still excited about making cards from different cartridges I have. This one was made using the Flower Shoppe cartridge. I cut everything out on white cardstock and inked each piece with different colors. A stylus was used to curl the leaves, make veins in them and curl the petals on the flower.  A Stampin' Up sentiment from Friendly Phrases was used, and the border was punched using a Martha Stewart Fans and Flourishes punch. The gingham background was made by using a piece of light pink paper stamped with a gingham stamp.

Using Leftovers

Good Morning, Crafters!

Have you ever set out to make a card and made flowers and embellishments, only to find out through the middle of the process, that what you have made doesn't really work with the current project? Well, I have many times; and so I lay those pieces aside in hopes that somewhere down the road there will be a good use for them. Sometimes they lay unused for months.

Today's card is made from former castaways that didn't fit together for what they were made. So I gathered some that had colors that went together and made something from them. The flowers are from SU Botanical Thinlets; the doily is from Memory Keepers Antique Doily; the foliage is from Spellbinders Sprigs; circle is Spellbinders Standard Circles. I don't remember the die used for the butterfly. It's been lying around for a long time. Sentiment is from a discontinued SU stamp. Liquid pearls adorn the flowers and the butterfly.
